On March 23 some members of the Essex/Kent Jr. Farmers travelled to tratford for their Annual arch Conference to meet p with other Jr. Farmer Clubs from across Ontario. At the Conference Heather McLeod from Essex/Kent received the Jr. Farmers' Association of Ontario, Most Outstanding Member of 2007 and also received the J.F.A.O. exchange to the United Kingdom. Heather leaves in June for the exchange. Brian Sterling, a member of Essex/Kent Jr. Farmers received the award for Most Outstanding New Member. McLeod from Adam Essex/Kent Jr. Farmers became Executive Director of Membership of Jr. Farmers Association of Ontario. The next event of the Essex/Kent Jr. Farmers are planning is a "Pre Planting Party" at the Comber Community Centre on Fri. Apr. 27 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Music, games, bar, ocial. Erie Shores Quilters Guild meeting was held on March 20 with 88 members and nine guests present. From tickets sold on the charity quilt raffle at the E.S.Q.G. quilt show last fall a cheque for $1503.68 was presented to Ross Barnwell for the L.D.M.H. foundation fund. The program for the night was a trunk show put on by Michelle Dunn of Kallisti Quilts. She show cased many quilts with Japanese fabrics and quilts made with Australian fabrics. She finally showed beautiful quilts made with African fabrics. The hostesses for the night were Dianne Moynahan and Gail Hull. Marion Dibbley and Joan Meuser each won a feel good bundle. Door prizes were won by the following Jan Bergeron, Licia Cipkar, Ruth Gilliland, Joann Gignac, Lisa Hill, Bev Gillespie, Jacqui Flood, Marie Jeanne Rivest, Pat Laing, Edith Lechien, Frances Coulter, Lisa Cipkar and Irene Bellemore. The guest vendor was Kallisti Quilts. The block of the month winners are for Churn Dash first Marion Dibbley and second Denise Pageau. For Jacob's Ladder the winners are first Bev Gillespie and second Meryl Richmond. Our next meeting will be on Tues. Apr. 17 and it will be a show by The Bag Ladies. Easter Holiday Hours ­ Our Harrow and Essex offices will be closed on Friday April 6th and Monday April 9th to recognize the Easter Holiday. There will be NO ESSEX CARE-A-VAN service on these two days. We will resume normal business and transportation hours on Tuesday April 10th. Have a great long weekend! Peer Support Network Are you looking for a meaningful and unique volunteer experience to help you gain transferable leadership and communication skills? Are you planning to go into a career in which you will be helping others? Need to strengthen your resume? The Peer Support Network may be the volunteer opportunity for you! We are training 16-21 year olds living in Windsor-Essex County to provide emotional support to other young people in their geographical area who have been victimized by crime or traumatic events. Potential volunteers must have good communication and leadership skills. They must commit to participating in 40 hours of training and one year of volunteering. NOVA TRAINING ­ Victim Services of Windsor and Essex County will be offering Nova Training (National Organization for Victim Assistance). Basic training will be held April 20-24 and advanced training will be held April 25-27. This training deals with crisis intervention to groups of traumatized people and community crisis response.
