Watson family shows support for Canadian troops BY FREE PRESS STAFF Essex MP Jeff Watson and his family brought drop-boxes to five Royal Canadian Legions across the county Oct. 28, in an effort to raise goods for Canadian troops serving in Afghanistan. Watson, along with his wife Sarah and children Sophie, Emma, Elijah and Thaddaeus, visited Royal Canadian Legions in Essex, Harrow, Belle River, LaSalle and Amherstburg. The "Essex County Cares" campaign will be running until Remembrance Day, Nov. 11. The Watsons are encouraging residents living near the Legions to drop off care packages containing soap, food, socks and vitamins that will be sent to troops before Christmas. The campaign will not be accepting cash donations. The Watsons suggest any financial contributions be made to the Royal Canadian Poppy Fund. "Please join us to let our men and women in uniform know how much we care about them," they said in a media release. 40 Years Community Service Over the years John Garinger has been a key part of almost every major community project in Essex.
