The HNS Junior Boys' Basketball team was `busy in action' this week, as they participated in two tournaments, showcasing their outstanding skills and talents! The boys (and their entire entourage coach, parents, supporters) traveled to Queen of Peace Elementary School in Leamington on March 6. There, they faced four different teams. On March 8, the HNS Junior Boys' Basketball team participated in another school tournament. This time, the boys made their way to Holy Cross Elementary School. There, the team participated in games against an array of talented school teams. Scores of these games were not recorded, however, as the tournament was a friendship tournament, emphasizing sportsmanship and participation rather than competition and `team standings'. Participating in this `Friendship Tournament' allowed our Junior Boys to make many new and interesting friendships with students belonging to neighbouring schools in our community. What a terrific experience! The entire HNS community would like to extend their wishes for a safe, restful, and enjoyable March Break to all! Staff and students ... we'll see you back at school bright, early, and energized on Monday, March 19! Hencher. Thanks to this music program, many grade seven and eight students will be performing at the Kiwanis Music Festival which takes place in April. Students are playing music in trios, duets and quartets. The groups practise on their own time for weeks ahead and hope to bring home awards as Maplewood musicians have excelled in this festival before. The festival is held in Windsor and takes place over three days each year. Maplewood staff and students would like to wish all participants good luck and ... play your hearts out! Go Tigers! He shoots the ball...he scores! And then the buzzer goes. The crowd goes wild as Maplewood wins their game. Over the past several weeks, both the senior girls' and senior boys' basketball teams have been practising hard. The senior girls won the consolation championship and the senior boys placed second overall in their last games. What a great way to wrap up the season! Now we are on to badminton season. During the course of the past week, intermediate students have had the chance to try out for Maplewood's badminton team. The team will be announced after the March Break. More details will come as the season begins. 169 IRWIN AVE. Phone: 776-8699 Ages 3 Months - 12 Years Quality Child Care with a Before/After School Age Program.
