6 THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, JANUARY 16, 2003 ! " SENIORS REC. CTR.BY OWEN COULTRUP An accounts receivable clerk at Actons Design Connection International has been charged with theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000 after the Wallace Street giftware wholesaler was defrauded of $17,000, and $11,700 worth of goods were stolen. Police said the 31-year- old employee, who diverted company money into her own accounts, was arrested at her Fergus home on Saturday, charged and released. Clerk charged with theft To the editor, Today, January 8, 2003 the temps got up to a balmy 3 degrees Celsius, leaving nothing but puddles of water on the streets in our Lakeview area. At 6pm, I witnessed a huge snowplow scraping both sides of the street and won- dered why? Im sure when I get my property tax bill this time around, the vision of all those sparks flying from the blade will flood back into my mind. Perhaps this is how they sharpen the blades, but then at what cost to our roads? Might someone please enlighten me as to why our tax dollars are spent on such foolish, wasteful practices, as this is not the first time Ive seen this in the 12 years. Ive lived here.
