Wednesday, December 6, 2006 · Page 5 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Essex County Cares Campaign We would like to express our deep appreciation to the people of Essex for their overwhelming support of the Essex County Cares Campaign. It was very moving to have your family join our family in the outpouring of support for our Canadian troops in Afghanistan. We want to also extend heartfelt thanks to the Legions in Belle River, Amherstburg, LaSalle, Essex and Harrow, who opened their doors to our project and made their branches available as dropoff points and, as well, to make honourable mention of the Kingsville Legion for their project in support of our troops ongoing when the ECC campaign was launched. We also wish to express a warm thanks to the board, teachers and students of the Greater Essex County School District for wholeheartedly embracing this project, for their outpouring of donations and, most especially, for the childrens' pictures and letters. Our family recently received a personal thank you letter for the first group of care packages that we sent over earlier this fall, and the soldiers very pointedly thanked our children for their pictures and comments. Our efforts to show our appreciation and care will make a difference to the morale of our men and women serving in Afghanistan and, conversely, help us as a community to connect with what the soldiers are doing for our country and for the people of Afghanistan. The campaign was a tremendous success due to the generous support of each of our communities in Essex. Thanks again!
