CLGA pins, best 4 out of net score on CLGA days ere won by Donna Curtis, orothy McGregor and a bar in to Mary Jones. The Orange team won the eam competition for 2006. The Thursday Classic ection match play was won y Ollie Nagorsen and onna Curtis; 2nd, Phil cNeilly and Carolina ltenhof; 3rd, Stephanie ytwiniuk and Betty ongden, 4th, Theresa Flynn nd Carole Dywelska, 5th, orraine Runstedler and nne Petch. The new coneners for 2007 are Donna urtis and Ollie Nagorsen. The Len Morel Match Play ward went to Joyce Stewart, onsolation to Carol Clark. The Christmas gathering ill be on Dec. 6 and everyne is asked to bring canned oods or toys to help out the eedy. Midget Major CAW Club 200 The Ravens visited Leamington Oct. 3, and it proved to be a great match between these rivals. The first period was exciting, with gritty defenplay by Alex sive Merryfield, Jeffrey Battersby, Luke McCarthy and Shane Fryer. Our forwards moved the puck well, but Leamington would find the mesh first at 2:03 in the opening period. The Ravens came back hard. Our forwards Matt McGuire, Skylar Janisse, Brad Smith and Matt Conley fought to keep the puck in Leamington's end. Our goalie Ryan Dickson made many crucial saves, keeping the Ravens alive. The second period was much of the same play, with Awstin Petitt and Pat McFadden creating some great scoring chances. Leamington came out just as hard, scoring with their second goal, making it 2-0. The third period found our guys back in the game with great defense and goaltending. Bobby McGowan and Phillip Friesen kept up the heat for Austin Bailey and Chris Laliberte, but unfortunately the boys couldn't slip the puck past the Leamington goaltender. The final score was 2-0, with a big improvement displayed by all the kids and a great job by the coaches. Our next game was at home against the Chatham Maroons and our boys were looking for redemption. The game started out much like the last time these two teams met, and the endto-end action made for an exciting match. Great checking was made by players Josh Ravens' Clemente and Andrew Wellwood. On the offense, Skylar Janisse and Matthew Conley executed some great plays. Goaltender Alex Rawlins held his ground and kept the Ravens' hopes alive during the scoreless first period. Going into the second, the Ravens fought hard against Chatham's strong forwards, clearing the puck out of our end. Unfortunately, Chatham scored on a rebound give them a 1-0 lead. But the Ravens wouldn't stand for that. Shortly after, Petit slid a pass to captain Matt team McGuire, fired it past the Chatham netminder to tie the game. The two teams remained deadlocked at 11 for the rest of the second period. Penalties were being called frequently, forcing the Ravens to fight even harder while playing short-handed. Alex Rawlins kept the puck out of the Ravens goal, and helped kill of the penalties. Once again, Petitt proved to be steady on his skates and fed the puck to McGuire for his second goal of the night. With a one goal lead, Essex's defensive play was on full-tilt, but Petitt and McGuire had other plans. With another great play, McGuire nabbed a hat trick and put the Ravens up 3-1. Chatham made several attempts to come back but the final buzzer sounded with the Ravens on top. Great job to the kids and the coaches. It's nice to see our team work together. Way to go Ravens! Midget Minor CONT'D FROM PAGE 19 The Ravens got into penalty trouble in the second and LaSalle took advantage to cut the lead to 2-1. The third period had some back and forth action and finally, on a delayed penalty, Cory McDonnell tipped in a shot from the point to put the Ravens up for good. Assists went to Ben Bates and Danny Vivier. Final score was 3-1 for the Ravens. On Sunday night the boys traveled to Chatham to face the Maroons. It was a rough start. Chatham opened the scoring and would add another one before the period was over to hold a 2-0 lead after one. Despite some good chances for both teams the second period was scoreless. About four minutes into the third, Jesse Breault flew down the wing and sniped one past the Maroon goalie to cut Chatham's lead to one. Five minutes later Derek Vivier went in and put a dope shot short side top shelf to tie the game. Assists on this goal went to Jesse Breault and Kevin Boggs. The boys continued to push and with four-and-a-half minutes left the line of Quinton Rossini, Jesse Breault and Andrew Kozak put together a beautiful passing display with Kozy finishing with the dangle.
