"Repair that big pothole near (Gemus Farms) on South Talbot Road. It keeps wearing down. I drive by it every day on my way to work." Marnie Cook, Essex "Don't outlaw fires in backyards. Rick Watson, Essex Nomination deadline approaches CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 Karen Fallon, Robert Sylvestre and Dan Diemer are also seeking re-election as councillors. Lakeshore Town Clerk Mary Masse said she's not surprised at the number of candidates joining the race so near to the deadline. "We never really get anything in August," Masse said. "September is when people usually get serious about running." Essex Town Clerk Jerry Marion agreed that it's not uncommon for candidates to wait until the final days to file their nomination papers. "It depends on people's mindset," Marion said. "Some tend to go for it right out of the starting gates and others like more time to think about it. All that matters is that they file before Sept. 29." In Kingsville, no new candidates have come forward in the past week. Nelson Santos is seeking re-election for the mayor's position, running against Pat O'Neil. Brian Sanger will challenge Katherine Gunning for deputy mayor.
