Wednesday, August 23, 2006 · Page 16 Leamington to host Midget "C" OBA's The Leamington District Minor Baseball Association will host the Ontario Baseball Association Midget "C" Championships this weekend. Seven teams from across the province will compete. Play begins Friday at 5:00 p.m. when Essex meets Petrolia and Dundas takes on Lambeth. Leamington plays Thunder Bay that same evening at 8:00 p.m. Georgetown receives a first round bye and will play the winner of Lambeth/ Dundas on Saturday morning. Play will resume all day Saturday with the championship game scheduled for Sunday morning at 9 a.m. "It should be exciting baseball," says Paul Cornies, LDMBA presi- dent. "This is the first time we have hosted the Midget Championships, it should be a high calibre of competition." All games will be played at the Kinsmen Baseball Complex on Seacliffe Drive East. SuperWalk for Parkinson's disease announced The 2006 SuperWalk for Parkinson's disease is coming to Windsor, Chatham and Sarnia Sept. 24, along with a number of other locations in Southwestern Ontario. The annual event, which raised more than $213,000 last year, includes entertainment and food for the entire family. Rain or shine, there will also be corporate challenges and family fun team events. All who register will receive a free T-shirt, and prizes will also be awarded for top pledgeraisers. In Windsor, the event is taking place at Jackson Park at noon. In Chatham, the event is at Kingston Park also at noon and the Sarnia event will take place at the Sarnia Bay Marina at 1:30 p.m. Proceeds will support national research for the Parkinson Society of Canada. In the silver division the winner was Bev Miller with Joyce Stewart second. In section A the winner was Heather Holmes with Gwen Perry second. In section B, the winner was Donna Curtis with Anne Petch and Fran Wasyliniuk tied for second. In section C, the winner was Carolyn Brown with Betty Ann Martin in second.
