Wednesday, July 26, 2006 · Page 9 Friends of Woodslee seek school stories Did you or anyone you know attend any of the Rochester Township area schools pictured here? The Friends of Woodslee are gearing up to celebrate Doc Millen Day on August 6 in Woodslee and are requesting help in collecting information on the following schools : S.S. No. 2 (near Steve Zelko's), S.S. No. 4 at Ruscom, S.S. No. 15 (now the Helbich residence), and Dr. S.F. Millen (now the Millen Centre). Organizers are looking for the names of principals, teachers, supply teachers, copies of report cards, old stories, photographs, class lists, and any school memorabilia. Last year, the Friends of Woodslee invited former Woodslee telephone operators to meet at the Millen Centre during the Canada Day celebrations. This year, organizers are inviting former teachers from these four schools to gather at the Millen Centre on August 6 to renew old friendships and visit the "School Days" area in the history room. Information about these schools can be forwarded to Valerie McCormick at 519-975-0246. Woodslee Doc Millen Day starts at 2 p.m. with a bed race down the main street followed by a parade at 3 p.m. Activities continue at the Millen Centre on South Middle Road. Kids are encouraged to participate by bringing at least two teddies to the parade "one to giveaway and one to display". The fire department will collect new teddy bears to give to local hospitals. Kids can use their decorated bicycles to pull a wagon of teddy bears or put them in your backpack and join in the parade. Outside activities will include a one-hour show with the Mad Scientist, Teddy Bear Piñata smash and crash for candy, a bouncing castle, petting zoo, baseball game, and some children's games. If you have a special talent, be sure to sign up for the "Under The Big Top Talent Show". You have seven minutes to show your stuff and "blow us away with your awesomeness." For information, contact Connie Bruner at 519-975-0888 or Donna Roubos at 519-975-2634. S.S. No. 2 S.S. No. 4 Dr. S.F. Millen S.S. No. 15 CRIMINAL DEFENCE LAWYER Why miss work or school for court?
