She is asking the community to bring their friends and neighbours, make support signs and carry Canadian flags. Woodslee's downtown barrels will be decked out in yellow ribbons and those attending the event will be encouraged to tie them "wherever they can make a statement," Roubos said. "I thought a Yellow Ribbon Troop Campaign would be a good way to honour and respect the ones in our immediate area (who are serving in Afghanistan)," Roubos said. "They are putting their lives on the line so let's show our appreciation to them over there and show support to their loved ones here among us." Debbie Adams, whose husband Duane left for Afghanistan in February, said she is pleased to have an event in her community that will be honouring local soldiers. "It's a great idea," Adams said. "I don't know of anything else locally that is supporting our troops." As a member of the Canadian military, Sgt. Duane Adams has served in Cyprus, Africa, Haiti and Bosnia. He is currently serving his second tour in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Debbie and her two children, Jessica and Jonathon, are hoping Duane will be returning to Canada in September. "Everyday he's on our mind," Debbie said. "We know he's well trained and we hope for the best and that he comes home safe." Debbie said she usually gets the chance to speak with Duane over the phone once a week, adding that, "the troops always enjoy getting mail."
