He walked or rode horse back from Kingsville and held services in William Brooker's home. A log church was built on the corner of the 9th Concession and the Belle River Road which was used as a chapel and a day school when a teacher was available. In 1876 it was organized as a Regular Baptist Church. A new church was erected on the present site and has stood the test of time.
