Despite a tentative start to Game One, which pitted Fury against Erin #4, Acton was first on the board with a resounding goal by Dayne ?Virus? Black. Assists went to Phillip ?The Con? Conlin and Jacob ?Hawkeye? Dougan. Period two also produced a picture-perfect goal for Centreman Travis ?TJ? Brown, who potted one over a surprised goalie, with assists from Cameron ?CoDog? Coady and Alex ?Ice Dawg? Barry. The third period belonged to the faster-skating Acton team with Mark Weber?s deck-clear- ing goal (TJ Brown assisted) followed by Dougan?s two goals, assisted by Mackenzie ?Crash? Morrison, Rachel ?Sniper? Kirkwood and Brown. The fi- nal goal, provided by Black, was assisted by House League team- mate, Mark ?Kram? Weber. Final score 6-0 Fury. Dayne Black was voted the Game MVP. Game Two produced a 7-2 victory for Acton against Paris, commencing with Ice-Dawg Barry?s unassisted goal in the first, followed swiftly by Weber, with nods going to Dougan and Brown. Paris answered with goals from Nathan Brander and Tom Granby, and the quest for hardware was on as the Paris team began to get a little physi- cal. This soon subsided however, as a much-provoked Eric Otten demonstrated hook- ing to the other team, proving Acton would not back away from this type of game should they wish it. For the Fury, who were now operating almost at full strength, with the addition of Charlie ?Snake? Browes, it was ?win it all or go home,? resulting in ad- ditional goals from Dougan (2), Weber, Conlin and Black. Final score was 7-2 over Paris. MVP chosen to wide applause was ?Sniper? Kirkwood. There was some trepidation at the onset of the championship game, as we watched a strong Erin #2 team trounce all previ- ous opposition. However, Conlin put Acton on the board, assisted by his colour-guard, Black and Brown. Weber, nod- ding at Dylan ?Speedy? Britton, maintained the pace with a suc- cessful shot. ?Hawkeye? Dougan relentlessly hammered one home, assisted by Morrison and Kirkwood. With two min- utes left in the first, Erin?s Nicholas Blazenko scored to wide applause. ?Virus? proved deadly in the end of the first, and was assisted handily again by Conlin and Coady. Period Two action resulted in Rachel Kirkwood scoring her first in the game with help from Dougan and ?Crash? Morrison. The supporters witnessed a peel- out-from-defence goal by Cameron Coady in Period Three (assisted by dynamic duo, Browes and Conlin). The final net burner, fired from our blue line off the stick of reliable ?Kricket? Kearns straight to her winger, ?Sniper?, finished the game at 7-1 for Acton. Rachel Kirkwood skated tri- umphantly to claim her second consecutive game MVP award! Many thanks to ever wary net- minders, Nicholas ?The Wall? Victoria and ?Drew Cheeseman! You guys weren?t kept too busy due to some excellent defence tactics from Brian ?I got it, You Don?t? Taylor, Bronson ?Newt? Manhke, and Eric ?Storm? Otten.
