On Tuesday, June 27, Holy Name Student Council Prime Minister Kayla Ouellette was the recipient of a new award initiated this year....It was also her birthday! Student Council is in its second year of existence at Holy Name. As the Prime Minister, Kayla has done a tremendous job of leading her fellow Student Council reps and the student body. She has been a committed, enthusiastic and compassionate leader throughout her term as Prime Minister. Kayla has been involved in other extra-curricular activities such as sports teams and drama, yet, in addition to her many commitments, she has maintained a mature and dedicated attitude toward her year-long responsibilities on Student Council. For these Holy Name Hawk Happenings Maidstone Central EDHS Top Scholars School News 2005-2006 All too soon the school year has drawn to an end. Report cards are going home and all of the students here at Maidstone are making plans for the summer. For the grade eights the last month has been very busy. On June 19 the grade eights travelled to Niagara Falls for their final trip together. While they were there they went on the ever popular Maid of The Mist where they journeyed near the falls in a boat. This event soaked the grade eights with water and with fun. From there they moved onto Clifton Hill where they had lunch and took in a little shopping in a few of the many stores there. After lunch the students once again boarded the bus and headed to the Butterfly Conservatory. The students were in awe as they viewed all different types of butterflies ranging from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Next on their schedule they travelled to the Hershey Store. They bought everything from chocolate to T-shirts and even found the time to take a few pictures with a huge Hershey Kiss. Once everyone had their fill of sweets they finished off the day with a movie about the history of the Niagara Falls at the amazing IMAX Theatre. Before they knew it the day was over and they made the four hour trip home with lots of souvenirs and a few priceless memories that will last a life time. On June 20 four grade six students, Lauren Damphousse, Daniel DaSilva, Jesse Margerison and Leah Meanwell went to the Essex High School with Miss Tremaine to represent our school at a Technology Challenge. They placed third out of 18 teams and made all of us here at Maidstone very proud. June 22 was graduation night and on behalf of all of the graduates I would like to say a special thank you to all who made it possible. It was a night full of memories that we will not soon forget. In conclusion I would like to wish both the graduating students and some of Maidstone's staff the best of luck as they leave Maidstone and enter new schools where they will hopefully make new friends and create new memories that will be treasured for a life time.
