Mr. Myles, Sir;
Feeling some degree of interest in the success of the proprietors of the Steam Boat, as every other good man must, who anticipates the advantages to be derived from such an useful improvement in this Province, I am induced, through the medium of your Gazette, to offer a few remarks, although in opinion I may differ in some points materially from two late Contemporary writers in your paper. Such an important object claims the intervention of our Provincial Legislature in its present session in placing us on an equal footing with the United States by laying duties on every article of American manufacture, the entering and clearances of their vessels out of our ports, to correspond with the restrictions we are subject to on entering their ports...
