Commercial - The people of the United States, who navigate the waters of the Lakes and the River St. Lawrence, have been very much hindered by being compelled to enter and clear their vessels from every small creek or bay in which they might have occasion to stop. It could not be expected that a people possessed of a universal genius and whose minds are supremely bent upon improvement, should patiently suffer such impediments - No, for a brawny son of Neptune has brought to light the production of a magnanimous and inventive mind. He has burnt the chains that fettered commerce; he has done away all those delays and procrastinations which were her former attendants, by carrying an officer of the Customs on board. This new invention so much facilitates business, that the first vessel that adapted it arrived in this port on the 2nd instant, only 20 hours from Chennessee (sic) River. What surprising facility! What an incalculable advantage to commercial intercourse!
