The extra periods were exceptional hockey to watch and very tiring to play, as the legs must have felt like rubber for some of the players. There was everything in these extra periods. Both clubs had power play opportunities as 10 penalties were called. Both goalkeepers made some exceptional saves to keep their team in the game as well. Referee Greg Campbell called a great game from start to finish. Neither team could complain about the calls that were made. Essex even had one goal called back in the last period, because it was knocked in with a glove.
