Wednesday, February 28, 2007 · Page 9 The Music Majority to debut entertainment Local ensemble The Music Majority will be presenting their debut rock show March 3 at the Essex Community Centre at 7 p.m. Working to showcase new talent, The Music Majority will be presenting five live bands throughout the evening; Diggin' in the Kitty, The Electric Chair, The Drowning, Safe Haven and the Walk Ins. Having only recently formed, The Music Majority has been providing local bands with music industry informational sessions, jam nights and workshops. The club was formed by experienced songwriter Brad Ouellette. Ouellette, who's dabbled in the music business for 30 years, said he had the idea to form The Music Majority after working with young bands, inviting them to practise in his garage. He's also taught seminars on "practical music" at Essex High School, where he explained to young musicians that there are more jobs in the industry than those on stage, including technicians and mixing board operators. Ouellette says if the March 3 show is a success, he hopes to take the bands on a mini-tour around Essex County. As a guitar player and singer in the Walk Ins, Ouellette will also be per- forming at the show, which will incorporate professional stage lighting and have a photographer on hand to shoot pictures of the bands that can later be used as promo shots. "The kids are really enthused about playing music," Ouellette said. Tickets are $7 at the door with student identification and $10 without.
