The newlyweds, from Collingwood, were killed in a ?pretty horrific? head- on crash south of Alliston on Christmas Day. Dufferin-Wellington OPP Constable Al Buck said Swackhamer?s 2001 Ford Focus was south- bound on Airport Road when it crossed the centre line and spun into an on- coming northbound Chrysler, driven by a St. Catharines man, who along with his wife, was taken to hospital with non- life threatening injuries. Although visibility was clear at the time of the ac- cident, Constable Buck said weather played a part in the crash. One witness said the road was wet and another said there were thin patches of slush in the centre of the road and in the centre of each lane. A Brock Street resident told police he came home at 9:30 on Sunday morning and found the antenna cut and his dish on the ground in his backyard. Damage is estimated at $200. Fake bill A $50 bill that passed through the Acton Post Of- fice on December 24 was uncovered as a fake by a cashier at the Bank of Mon- treal on Mill Street on December 27. Police report at least eight fake $50s turned up in vari- ous Georgetown stores over the holidays. Truck fire A fire possibly caused by an electrical or mechanical fault caused $40,000 dam- age to the cab of a Ford International tractor trailer parked at a Nassagaweya home on Friday. Acton firefighters re- sponded to a call concerning a smoking vehi- cle in a driveway at a home of 25 Side Road between the Fourth and Fifth Lines. When they arrived on scene, the cab was fully en- gulfed. Roll over Acton firefighters helped paramedics stabilize and then remove a Fergus woman from her car after it rolled over on the First Line, Nassagaweya, near 30 Side Road at 3:31 on Box- ing Day. The woman was extracted from the front seat of her 2000 Oldsmobile Alero and taken to hospital. No other details were avail- able at press time.
