Orville retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 yrs. and was a member of the CAW Local #200. He was a member of the K of C of Maidstone and a founding member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #594. Orville served our country during WWII. He played and coached for the Maidstone Shamrocks and was one of the founders of the Sandwich South Baseball League. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sat. Dec. 9 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Essex. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Maidstone. Arrangements were entrusted to the Stewart L. Kennedy Funeral Home in Essex. The dinner, which will be served at 12:00 noon on December 25, is available at no charge to anyone who will be alone, go without, or who is simply in need of fellowship. Free transportation is available, and meal delivery for shutins will also be provided. In addition to good food and fellowship, any proceeds realized from the dinner are presented to the Salvation Army in support of the food bank. Homes for the holidays With 3,907 properties currently available on the real estate market, shopping for a home during the holidays should prove to be less stressful than shopping for Christmas gifts. According to statistics released by the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board for November, listings totaled 698, down slightly from 2005. The total number of properties on the market so far this year is up 2.05 percent. As expected, due to the upcoming holiday season, sales dropped almost 15 percent. Year-to-date sales also experienced a 12.17 percent decrease. Current figures show 4,451 sold homes in 2006, compared to 5,068 units sold in 2005. November's average sale price shows an increase of 9.2 percent over 2005. Yearto-date figures are barely up at 1.1 percent. The highest sales in the county, outside Windsor, were in LaSalle (27), Leamington (24), and Lakeshore (23). The average sale price of the best selling house types are as follows: Raised Ranch - $201,250; Ranch $171,476; Bungalow $102,910; 1-1/2 Storey $126,139; and 2 Storey $230,993.
