Guelph scored two touchdowns early in the first quarter of the semifinal game, with wide receiver Jesse Bellamy catching a pass from Lance Fergin and taking the ball 70 yards into the end zone. Fitzgibbons earned the Bears a second TD with a 13-yard run at 10:49 of the first. Ravens' kicker Joe Collela then put Essex on the board, booting in a field goal with just under five minutes left in the quarter. A 65-yard toss for a TD by Essex quarterback Kyle Quinlan to wide receiver Derek Easter followed, making it 15-10 for Guelph at halftime. Late in the third quarter, Ravens' running back Rondel Roberts carried the ball within nine yards of the Bears' goal line. A five-yard run into the end zone by Kostas Spyridis then put Essex ahead 24-15. The Ravens lead lasted until the final minutes of the fourth quarter, when an unnecessary roughness call brought the ball to the Essex twoyard-line. A three-yard pass by Fergin to Fitzgibbons brought Guelph into the end zone and back on top with a 2824 lead with 3:41 left in the game. A two-point safety for the Bears quickly followed. In the final two minutes, Fitzgibbons ran the ball nearly half the field to score and make it 37-24, putting the Ravens to bed for another year.
