The announcement was made from the main stage at the Essex Fun Fest just prior to the Saturday night entertainment. Fynbo is well known to the general public as the driving force behind Essex Home Hardware, which is now the largest in Canada. He took over Whittal's Hardware near the tracks in Essex, but saw it destroyed in the Valentine's Day explosion of 1980. A "never say die" attitude and a genuine commitment to the town and his customers have led to the store's present success. Fynbo has been active in a host of fundraising campaigns for various causes. Town Planner Chad Jeffery said July 6 that Phase 2 of the Woodview and Galos development projects are underway and the subdivisions are in the process of being serviced. Phase 2 construction includes installing sanitary and storm sewers, as well as establishing water lines and roads. The Woodview developent project is approxiately 16 acres in size and ncludes 47 single-unit wellings and 26 "freeold" or townhouse-style nits.
