Early Navigation
The Schr. Mary Ann, J. Mosier, arrived here on Monday the 22nd instant with passengers from Niagara, being probably the first instance of the lake being navigated at so early a period of the year. The season has however been so very mild as to make the navigation practicable and safe almost every day since the commencement of the winter, between Niagara and this port, and indeed it is said even to Kingston.
p.2 a letter to Editor about proposed Great Western Canal in New York State; it probably will be as beneficial to Montreal as New York; also mentions Lachine Canal, the need for more improvements to the St. Lawrence, and the cost of shipping on the canal from Buffalo to New York. (2 1/2 columns)
