Rock wood Eramosa fire department established new hall site set A special meeting of the Eramosa Township Council was held Thursday Feb at which all council members were present with Reeve Cam Lush presiding Also present at the Council chambers were the Trustee Board comprised of chairman K Murray J Smith secretary OBrien and Lloyd Hindley township cleric At tins joint meeting which was called to discuss the reorganization of the fire department and the building of a new fire hall the trustees of the Police Village of Rockwood and the council of the corporation of the township of Eramosa agreed unanimously to terminate all former fire protection agreements and to establish a fire department by township bylaw to be called the Fire Department It was further agreed to pool all equipment and assets with the exception of the present building which presently houses the fire equipment belonging to and to be retained by the village of Rockwood The trustees of Rockwood stated that they would donate a parcel of land bounded Guelph and Inkerman Streets to be used for the site of the new fne hall which was unanimously accepted with trustees and council members agreeing that a committee should be established to look at neighboring firehalls and to report to council on a building which would meet the needs of the RockwoodEramosa Fire Department It was also agreed that this Committee should contact the Wellington County Board of Education re the use of water and sewage facdities for the present tune and also as to the future disposition of the tworoom school The trustees and council further agreed that the township of Etamosa would be responsible for the administration of the Fire Department as of January 1970 The following motions were made and passed THAT a bylaw to appoint a fire chief for the Rockwood Fire Department and repeal bylaw number be given the necessary reading passed and numbered 81970 THAT a bylaw to establish and regulate a fire department to be called The Eramosa Fire Department be given the necessary readings passed and numbered 121970 THAT a byJaw to provide for the participation of the RockwoodEramosa Fire Department in County Mutual Fire Aid be given the necessary readings passed and numbered 131970 THAT the budget of the Eramosa Fire Department in the amount of 00 5 mills on the total assessment to provide for the operation of the Fire Department and for a payment on a new fireball for the year 1 be hereby adopted THAT the Chief and the Deputy Fne Chief are hereby instructed to attend the Fire College at and Council will reimburse them for loss of wages THAT the following be appointed to act as building committee on establishing a fire hall in the village of Rockwood Reeve Cameron Lush Ken Murray Duncan McPhedran and that Fire Chief Carl Meadows act as advisor and Lloyd be secretary THAT the meeting be adjourned Rockwood Eramosa singers compete in Kiwanis festival Nattily attired in navy skirts and white blouses
