McKee, an educational speaker and history buff, showed the class an assortment of shields, swords, armour, and clothing from the pre-Renaissance era. Christmas spirit was everywhere at Sun Parlor last week. Our students were excited to perform in two beautiful Christmas concerts that were organized by music teacher extraordinaire Mrs. Peleshok. The gym was packed with appreciative family members both days. The week was filled with Christmas crafts, poems and stories, as well as baking, the can drive, and a visit from Santa and his little elf. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all from the staff and students of Sun Parlor! Holiday Happenings at Holy Name CUT FOR CANCER ­ Holy Name School Grade 6 student Morgan McCarthy cracks a smile despite having her long locks cut off by friend Sandy Drake. Morgan's father Paul and her brothers Callaghan, Doran and Casey joined her in the haircut-for-cancer session Dec. 22. Members of the family had been growing their hair for years and the donations will be made into wigs for local cancer patients. SAYING THANKS ­ Holy Name School teacher Laura Andreozzi shares a laugh with Eileen Clifford, founder of the Essex Area Food Bank, after a cheque presentation Dec. 22. The school donated $700 to the food bank with proceeds generated from the "Loonie Licence Day" fundraiser held last month. An additional $250 was donated to St. Michael's Alternate High School in Essex.
