A few weeks before Chris's death, the Jacksons reached out to Larry Brunet, the priest at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, for assistance. With Chris too sick to continue working at Integram Inc. Windsor Division in Emeryville, the family was struggling to pay their bills, Brunet said. "They told me their gas was turned off," Brunet said. "And so we went into action mode." Over one weekend, the parish collected more than $8,000 for bill payments.
