Wednesday, November 8, 2006 · Page 20 Halloween Haunting The Friends of Woodslee hosted a Halloween Haunting on Oct. 31 at the Millen Community Centre. Children of all ages from tiny to teen were spooked in the haunted graveyard, Dracula's castle, and the Torture Chamber. Admission was a canned good and kids were greeted by witches, werewolves, mummies, tree taunters, Dracula and his brides and victims. Chamber music by the Divine Red Devil and dining room treats such as fingers, bones, worms, and edible body parts were served. The Grabbing Bowl handed out treats in style, and many screams chilled the air as people exited via the Spider Hall where Charlotte tried to snag the surprised innocents. Valerie McCormick and Keith French, the owners of Doc Millen's home, masterminded this project. Special thanks to Keith and Valerie's friends, family and casino co-workers who helped to make this community active, vital and interesting. SCARING UP CANNED GOODS Between Oct. 27 and Oct. 29, the 3rd annual Gesto Spook House drew approximately 1,375 patrons and even more canned goods. Organizers of the event have distributed all proceeds evenly between the Essex Area Food Bank and the St. Vincent de Paul in McGregor.
