Working as crew chief, Brown overees mechanical operations on the 400 orse-power Chevy Monte Carlo drivn by his nephew Tyler, who was ecently named by London's Delaware peedway as the 2006 Late Model ookie of the Year. As the youngest and, consequently, east experienced driver to race at elaware this season, Tyler counts on Uncle Glen' to ensure the car is quipped to handle speeds up to 200 ilometres per hour. "He's honing his driving skills," rown said of Tyler, who lives in aterdown, Ont. "The sky's the limit or him." While still in high school, Tyler reglarly circles the track with racers two nd three times his age. "It doesn't bother me one bit," Tyler aid. "It doesn't matter if you're 30, 14, 0 ... Everybody's the same when you put the helmet on." Last year, with Glen in his corner, Tyler became the youngest late model stock car driver in Delaware Speedway history. He began his racing career driving go-karts at the age of seven. He participated in more than 225 regional and national competitions, including some at the Canadian National Go-Kart Championships, all before he was 14 years old. In 1997, Glen and Tyler's father Darrell established the 4B Racing team, originally intended for the family's participation in go-kart competitions. Eventually the team became a support squad for Tyler and his racing ambitions. "The goal is for him to make it in the world of motor sports - in the NASCAR or Busch Series," Darrell said. From the opening face-off, the game proved to be one filled with penalties for both teams. Each traded power play chances for most of the first period until Essex broke the deadlock with a power play goal by Michael Ouellette assisted by Nick Diemer. The lead was short-lived as Southpoint tied the score with a power play goal of their own just 25 seconds later. The special teams continued to control the game as the Sharks blocked a shot from the point and scored a shorthanded breakaway goal 35 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead into the second period. The steady march to the penalty box continued for both teams giving each team many scoring chances during the middle period. The Sharks found the back of the net near the end of the period to extend their lead to 3-1 going into the third.
