Wednesday, July 26, 2006 · Page 8 4-H News A snort to remember It was on the 14th of July (last Friday, for some of you) that the 4-H Swine Club had a swell affair at the house of the DeMarte's. We went in to the DeMarte's barn to see the pigs which were so covered in mud that we couldn't show them. They were fighting over vegetables that Ashley gave them. We saw the horse and a turkey that I believed was a hustler. My reasoning comes after the fact that I learned it loved shiny objects and seeing the turkey/hustler going after a girl with a shiny clipboard. That only proves that you never know what you will find on a farm. After this we went outside and started talking about what is to be done before the Harrow Fair starts, such as: how much should the pigs weigh, how to get our buyer, what to get our buyer, posters, tools we might use for the fair, and the clothes needed for showing pigs at the Harrow Fair. The next meeting will be held at the Civic Centre on July 24 when we will be working on the club's board and the meeting after that is at Rachel W.'s Aug.7. We closed the meeting having chips, pop and watermelon. Thank you to the DeMarte family for letting us use your property to have the meeting and for the treats. I'm sure of one thing, this meeting has been a snort to remember. Darren Mayville SAFE AND SOUND Paul Bondy, left, the owner of the Michigan Roadhouse, holds a painting he commissioned from Steven Johnson, right.
