10/ March 2024 The South Marysburgh Mirror CCOOUUNNCCIILL CCOORRNNEERR John Hirsch Councillor, Ward 9 South Marysburgh JJaannuuaarryy -- FFeebbrruuaarryy -- HHeerree"ss hhooww tthhee NNeeww YYeeaarr hhaass ssttaarrtteedd After considerable consultation and debate, Council finally approved the tender to put pipes in the ground to bring wa- ter and wastewater services to the lands Kaitlin group will be building out in Wellington. Without the pipes, construction cannot begin and we had contracted with Kaitlin to provide services to the site. They are paying for approximately 88% of the cost. This sets the stage for more water and wastewater infra- structure decisions. We will soon see the results of the Master Servicing Plan which will likely recommend bringing water to the Bloomfield and Picton systems from Wellington and eventually phase out the end of life Picton water plant. Meanwhile, Base 31 is spending $10 million of their own money to connect to water and wastewater services for the first phase of their construc- tion. So it looks like a busy year for WWW infrastructure need- ed for the predicted growth. Detailed information on all these projects is on the Coun- ty's website.
