A DELIGHTFUL DAY'S OUTING THE GRANDEST TRIP THROUGH AN ISLAND PARADISE..... ar ' HE most comprehensive of all Canadian water trips, condensing within a few hours of time unequalled variety of scene and sublimity of beauty, is that given by the steamers of the Lake Ontario & Bay of Quinte Steamboat Co., Limited, sailing from Charlotte, the Lake Port of Rochester, N.Y., leaving at 8.30 p.m. daily except Sunday, through the Bay of Quinte and among the 1000 Islands and return. The Steamers North King and Caspian performing this service are staunch, handsomely proportioned, supplied with powerful machinery of the most approved kind, and with appointments and furnishing of tasteful and modern design. The monotony of a lake voyage is eliminated by the passage through the Bay of Quinte, reached by steaming directly across Lake Ontario in the calm of the evening, the first port of call being the town of Brighton at 12.55 a.m., at the entrance of the Murray Canal, affording access to the land-locked waters of the Bay, which ends at the City of Kingston, 104 miles beyond. The Murray Canal is cut through the Isthmus joining Prince Edward County to the mainland, and is four and one-quarter miles in length, with a uniform width of 200 feet; and bordered with green, it seems more like a natural watercourse through diversified farming scenery, than an artificial waterway built for purposes of commerce. Passengers to and from the town of Trenton, 2 miles distant (a favorite summer home for tourists), are transferred to Canal Bridge by omnibus leaving Trenton at midnight, meeting steamers both going and returning.
